Privacy policy
Overview
Cluvo is a Chrome extension that explains a page you have open, in a side panel, and a website where you can join a wishlist for the full version. This policy describes what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not show ads.
Information we collect
Wishlist. If you join the wishlist, we collect your email address, an optional note about what you mostly read, and a record that you agreed to this policy.
Extension use. If you sign in with Google, we receive basic account details from that sign-in: your name, email address, and profile picture. When you ask Cluvo about a page, we receive the text passages you ask about, the title of that page, and the language you chose. We also keep usage counts, and any feedback you choose to send.
Technical information. We keep basic logs and anonymized network identifiers so we can run the service securely and prevent abuse.
On your device. The extension stores your settings and recent readings on the device, so the same page does not need to be sent again. That information stays on your device until you remove the extension or clear its storage in Chrome.
What we do not collect
We do not receive the address of the page you are reading, and we do not collect your browsing history. We do not sell personal information. We do not show ads, and we do not use your information for advertising. We do not store a password for you.
How we use information
- To explain the page you ask about, in the language you choose.
- To keep your account, if you sign in, and your wishlist signup.
- To send one email when the full version is ready, and no other marketing mail.
- To protect the service, prevent abuse, and fix failures.
- To respond when you contact us or ask us to access, correct, or delete information.
Service providers
We use a small number of companies to run Cluvo. They process information on our behalf:
- Hosting and infrastructure. Cloudflare hosts the site and the service.
- Explanations. A third-party AI provider (Google) processes the text passages you ask about in order to generate the explanation. We do not send the page address with those passages. On the service we use, Google does not use those prompts or responses to improve Google products.
- Sign-in. Google Sign-In checks your Google account when you choose to sign in, and provides the name, email address, and profile picture described above.
Data retention
We keep a wishlist email until you remove it, or until we launch and send the one launch email, whichever comes first.
We keep account information until you delete your account.
We keep security logs for a short period, then delete them.
Readings stored only on your device stay there until you clear them or remove the extension. Deleting your account does not by itself clear information that exists only in the browser.
Your rights
You can ask for access to the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. You can withdraw consent for the wishlist at any time by removing your email.
If you signed in inside the extension, you can delete your account from Account in the extension. To remove a wishlist email, use the delete page with the email address and the removal token shown when you joined.
Where they apply to you, these choices include the rights recognized by the EU General Data Protection Regulation and by Israeli privacy law. A right can be limited where we must keep a record to meet a legal duty or to prevent abuse.
To make a request, contact us.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal information, including limiting who can access it and encrypting it in transit. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure.
Children
Cluvo is not directed to anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.
International transfers
Our service providers may process information in countries other than the one where you live. They do this to host Cluvo, to sign you in, and to generate explanations. Their own terms describe how they handle those transfers.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version on this page and change the date above. If you joined the wishlist and do not want us to keep your email under an updated policy, you can remove it on the delete page.
